i’ve been at boot camp the past three days which killed me. i can barely move i’m so sore. it was amazing though. working out everyday or 6 days each week has given me a stronger and healthier mentality which has effected my dance in such good ways. so much of any kind of sport or working out is pushing yourself to do the absolute best you can. the boot camp i did was focussed on dance, but for 2 hours of it, it’s pure conditioning. the smallest things such as, when sitting in a split with your hands off the ground, you prop your back leg into a relevé makes a huge difference. first, you can feel the difference, and yes, it hurts like a motherfucker, but knowing that if i continue to do that on a regular basis that it will get easier makes it easier to get through.
also, i’ve gotten 3 or 4 questions about personal trainers so i’m gonna answer them all here:
i’ve worked with personal trainers, and they’re great every once in awhile. but personally, i can push myself much harder when i work alone. my mom is also a certified personal trainer, even though she doesn’t do it, so she’ll work with me a bit when i need help. the only times i use one though, are when i’m getting off track and i need that extra push from someone else. i’m only 17 so spending that kind of money to get a work out is ridiculous in my opinion.
you just have to know what you want and go for it 110%. i always ask my boyfriend and my guy friends for advice as well as dance teachers and instructors of other classes i take. try everything out. you’ll figure out what’s best for you, as you’ll feel it while you’re doing it. you can also customize workouts by making them harder or easier depending on what you want.
hope this all helps! xo

I'm 5'3 and 120lbs. It's normal but I wanna be more fit and thinner. How many calories do you think I should eat a day to lose about 15lbs?
I answered:hi!
i think that being 5’3” and 105lbs is a bit on the lower side. I think that where you are right now is perfect. however, i would focus less on the calories and more on just what you’re eating and being a conscious eater (cutting out carb-y foods such as pastas, breads, etc). another thing is making sure that you’re balancing out your meals. so i eat a big breakfast usually to get my metabolism going, and then i’ll eat a snack, a lighter lunch such as a salad, another snack, and then a normal sized dinner. i try not to eat past like 8-9pm because that food usually sits in your system.
definitely work out 3-5 days to start out each week and work your way up to 5-6 days. in the gym, i would advise you to start with more cardio and less lifting/focussing on one or two areas.
more than anything, it’s about being mindful of what you’re doing. perhaps keep a journal to track your food and workout amount that way at the end of each week or two weeks, you can go back and fix what you didn’t like or what you can improve on.
hope that helps!! xo
and i’m not doing this for the followers, i’m doing it to motivate people to get out and be active and to make dreams a reality as far as personal goals. it’s hard as fuck to get yourself to go to the gym or to take 10 minutes out of your day just to do a little bit of work, but that’s what i’m trying to help you guys with. it’s all about making a habit of going, even if you don’t fully push yourself, as long as you’re going to get used to working out and always including it into your daily schedule. again, thank you!! this is amazing and means the world to me.
